Research has shown that since prayer has been taken out of school violence and bullying have increased. Several questions have been asked over the years about this topic. This research paper I will provide answers to those unanswered questions for readers.
Prayer has been in public schools since the beginning of time, well more like the beginning of the United States’ development. Prayer was automatically put into the public schools systems because the United States was built on God. The people thought it was only right to recognize him our lord and savior. Prayer was a great thing because it provided spiritual training and helped combat juvenile delinquency. Removing it out of school systems was a decision the Supreme Court really should have debated on.
If prayer was still in school include in the school systems, children would be more united and would come together as one. Bullying and violence has intensified dramatically over the years without prayer, and people are heedless to it. With prayer the children wouldn’t be so quick to judge or hurt each other. They would know that God isn’t pleased with their wrong doing. Growing older, praying , learning, and getting closer to God daily will eventually take a toll on the children’s lives and they will realize certain things aren’t right in Gods eyes.
Research also has shown that prayer in public school offended several religions but Jewish in General. In 1962 there was a case “Engel vs. Vitale” that took place at the Supreme Court. The case was brought by Jewish families of public schools in New York. The Jewish people complained about the prayer contradicting their beliefs.
