However, since the authors of theBible were unaware of homosexual orientation, they could not conceive of loving and committedgay or lesbian relationships or same-sex marriage (Same-Sex Marriage). Thus, the Bible is silenton same-sex marriage. All positive references to human sexuality relate only to heterosexual sex,and all committed sexual relationships discussed in the Bible are heterosexual. These same two arguments often appear whenever same-sex marriages is debated. Gaysor lesbians in committed relationships make inferior parents; the best way to assure that childrenget the best possible upbringing is to require spouses to be of different genders (Same-SexParenting). Raising a child in a home with gay or lesbian parents in effect punishes the child, presumably because they would be exposed to the hatred of gays and lesbians by homophobicpeople (Same-Sex Parenting). While there certainly is a benefit to children which comes frombeing raised by their mother and father in an intact and relatively stress-free home, there arechildren everywhere who are not being raised by both of their natural parents....
