Should School Uniforms be Mandatory?

Should students wear uniforms? Some parents say yes because their kids get picked on because of what they wear, some kids say no because they hate uniforms or they hate looking like everyone else. Uniforms can be a pro and a con; they can help the school community, but also can tear your school in half. Uniforms aren't mandatory in many public schools, hardly any in Virginia. 16.5% of all the public schools in the United States required students to wear uniforms. I feel like everybody should have two sides to this argument. I am one of those people; uniforms should be worn for several reasons, actually many reasons. One of those reasons are distractions, if you have your whole school wearing uniforms than there will be no distractions. Like no one will be staring at one kid with the new pair of Jordan's, also there will not be anything too revealing as we know some girls can wear skirts or shirts that are a little too high or shirts that sit too low. Uniforms can stop those problems, also if you were uniforms children will not wear clothes gang related or with inappropriate graphics.
