Senior Project - RequirementsCompletion of Senior Project is a graduation requirement at ACS High School.Below are basic guidelines for Senior Projects:The project MUST be personally challenging. The project MUST be independently completed. The project MUST take at least 25 - 50 hours. This time does not include researching/writing your paper, or assembling your presentation or portfolio. Understand that a project that takes the minimal amount of time will most likely not earn the maximum amount of points. There is usually a correlation between time put into a project and the grade earned. There MUST be evidence of you physically completing the project in the form of pictures or video, as well as other documentary evidence of your efforts all along the way including but not limited to receipts, sketches, diagrams, rough drafts, correspondence, lists, plans, etc.All four portions of Senior Project, which are listed below, MUST receive a passing grade.Research PaperThis element of your Senior Project should form the knowledge foundation for your Product. If you do not pass the research paper, you cannot pass Writing 12.Your paper needs to be 10 pages minimum (MLA format, Times New Roman 12-point font, typed and double-spaced, including Works Cited page). You must use at least seven reliable sources in your paper, and one of them must not be from the Internet. These can be text sources and/or primary research via interviews with experts. You must carefully cite all sources for both paraphrases and direct quotations.ProductYour product is a part of your presentation; it is the physical evidence you show of what you learned/created. Your product is technically the proof of the 25-50 hours that you have spent on your Senior Project (researching for your paper, organizing your speech, and completing your portfolio do not count towards these hours). Your product can be a performance (songs on the guitar, a specific dance, along with pictures/video of your process), a video (chronicling your time spent and experience working on your project of building a solar-powered cell phone charger), picture boards (chronicling your time spent and experience working on your project), multiple drafts with notes of feedback and changes (showing the development of a written piece such as a short story), or something physical that you have actually created (a model house, art pieces, furniture, etc., along with pictures/video of your process).Power Point presentations that combine your speaking notes and pictures of your product are also acceptable, but your product cannot simply be a power point of text slides.PresentationYou will present your project to an audience of students, teachers, parents, and other guests.
