Twitter can be used to distract students but at the same time Twitter can be used to help them learn better. Twitter helps you create and shares ideas and information instantly, without barriers. Using “Tweets”, you can start up conversation with people you know or people you’d like to contact. Twitter is the fastest way of sharing information, staying in touch with people close to you as life happens, and remains number 1 for current events. Cyber bullying also happens on twitter. Cyber bullying is "the use of cell phones, instant messaging, e-mail, chat rooms or social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to harass, threaten or intimidate someone. Cyber bullying is often done by children, who have increasingly early access to these technologies" (Rouse, Margaret). If a person is being cyber bullied it is said that most likely they are being bullied while they are in school also. It doesn't matter what time of day or night it is cyber bullying can happen at any time. When kids are cyber bullied it makes them do certain things. Some of those things could be considered as doing drugs, drinking, getting bad grades in school, wanting to skip school, etc.
An anonymous person can cyber bully someone. On Twitter anyone can create a profile and they don't have to tell their identity. When a person doesn't show their identity this is known as catfishing. "A catfish is someone who pretends to be someone they're not using Facebook or other social media to create false identities, particularly to pursue deceptive online romances" (Sbacker).
