I was standing on the wood platform of the train station in a light gray blue dress the wind making my dress flutter to the side. Father was sitting on the bench in front of the ticket office in one of his nicer traveling suits. I held my bag tightly in my hand making me tremble slightly my eyes darting around. This had to be the most nerve racking day of my life, I was waiting for a train from London to arrive with my husband to be. My father had arranged our marriage because he is an Accommodator of something called Innocence. This will be the first time we have met each other, hopefully he will be open to me. I’m honestly afraid that he’ll hate me, I’ve heard horror story of betroved husbands beating their fiancees.
I knew I was at least semi-attractive so hopefully that with the fact that I wasn’t unintelligent maybe I would be able to at least keep him satisfied. Maybe he’ll just ignore me and let me be with shadow. I’ll try to learn everything that I can about the Black Order and about my fiance. I will be the best that I can be and I will make my father proud of me. Show him that I am not a monster that I’m just a normal girl. A good girl. I smiled to myself looking up at the sky at the early morning blue highlighted with white clouds. My peaceful, quiet moment was broken by the train whistle and the rumbling of the train over the steel tracks. I took a deep breath as it pulled up, the wind pushing my skirt out to my side.
My father stood up and joined me by my side, but far enough away that we weren’t touching. The train screeched to a halt in front of us and a few people got off, it was a twenty minute layover here before the train would proceed to London. A tall lean man got off the train were a black, silver and white suit. It was the well known uniform of the Black Order and I knew in that instance that he was my fiance. He had long black hair that he had tied up with a string. His skin was pale like the moon, his eyes were Onyx, their intensity making me shiver. He had to be almost six foot tall making him giant compared to my five foot four inch height.
He saw my father first and began to walk over, then I noticed his eyes skirted down to me. Though scowl on his face seemed to deepen as his eyes raked over me slowly. I wanted to crawl under a rock just to get away from his gaze. But I just lowered my eyes to the ground and felt my cheeks started to warm up ever so slightly.
“ Hello. Mr. Shushan I am Yu Kanda and I’m here to pick up Sophronia.” the man said putting his hand out to my father.
“ Yes of course. This is my daughter Sophronia. She is packed and ready to go with you to London.” My father said motioning to me but careful to make sure he didn’t accidently brush me.
Yu nodded at me quickly then lead my father to the side to have a more in depth conversation. I stood on the platform gazing around the group of people who were chit chatting and wandering. I saw a young boy about my age sitting on one of the wooden benches....
