Sparks Notes: Nicolas Sparks Essay

Nicholas Sparks receives acknowledgment for his fantastic job of pouring emotions onto paper for millions to read, and his life has been full of roller coasters on his journey to the top. Sparks studied at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana on a full track and field scholarship, but tore his Achilles tendon during his first year; therefore, his track and field career ended. He currently resides in North Carolina with his wife and five children. As a successful novelist, he makes a fair amount of money. He has always made it a priority to ration his earnings with local and national schools and organizations. Sparks worked hard and long for the success he now has; moreover, he continues to impress the nation with magnificent works. Sparks is a wonderful author that often does not get enough recognition for everything he has accomplished in his lifetime. When taking a deeper look into Sparks’ life and inspirations, it is easy to see that he is an intelligent, respectable man. After looking behind the works of Sparks, it is easy to find information on his personal life, his big break and claim to fame, his unique style of writing, and of course his huge success.
Sparks’ private life often goes unnoticed; however, the significance of his past, present, and future is nothing to pass over. Sparks states, “I never noticed how poor we really were until I was old enough to take the honest appraisal of things. Even then, it didn’t matter.” (“Nicholas…” The Biography… 1). Because Sparks did not have much as a child, receiving a full ride scholarship to the University of Notre Dame for his impeccable track and field performances was a huge accomplishment (“Nicholas…” The Biography… 1). His track and field career ended after his first season for Notre Dame when he tore his Achilles tendon. His injury in college granted him time to venture into his writing skills. After discovering his talents and graduating college a few years later, Sparks started his own family. Most of Sparks’ family has passed away, but he now shares a life with his wife Cathy and their five children in North Carolina (“Biography” IMDb 2). His parents died in a car accident, and his sister died from cancer. His brother is still living today. Sparks and Cathy have three sons and two twin daughters; their names are Miles, Ryan, Landon, Lexie, and Savannah (“Biography” IMDb 2). Sparks will frequently write books using his children’s names as main characters in the plot. After looking into Sparks’ background, it is clear that his life has not always been a breeze; however, he continues to move forward over obstacles and make a good life for himself.
