A spirit is a supernatural entity that carries power to influence someone’s or something’s actions .Spirits have been seen throughout mankind to as far back as biblical times. Technically speaking according to Webster (2013) a spirit is “the force within a person that is believed to give the body life, energy, and power; an animating or vital principle held to give life to physical organisms. There are good and bad spirits. Bad spirits can be what people refer to as demons who take over people and cause them to do stramge and supernatural things. The bible says in Matthew 12: 43-44, “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none (Matthew, 1995). There is also believed to be good spirits in the world as well. Spirits cannot be seen but are believed to show signs of good or bad intentions.
To understand what paranormal activity is it is helpful to know the definition of the words separately. Paranormal is defined as very strange and not able to be explained by what scientists know about nature and the world (Merriam-Webster, 2014). Paranormal simply means there is something that cannot be explained scientifically or by logical means. Activity is behavior or actions of a particular kind (Merriam-Webster, 2014). Combining the two simply means there is an event that is taking place with some supernatural purpose that cannot be explained by science or technology. Examples of paranormal activities include ghosts and poltergeist. Ghosts the soul of a dead person, a disembodied spirit imagined, usually as wandering among or haunting living persons( (Word english dictionary, 2009).
