Statement of Purpose
I still remember the day when I was introduced to a look-alike machine of television when I was in the 5th Standard. I was gazing at that screen for a while pondering about what type of television screen it is! Yes, that was my first encounter with the ‘Computer’; however, I started developing interest towards computers when my father started using them for his business purposes. ‘A computer can eradicate the need of monotonous manual processes involved in handling day-to-day tasks’– the concept was fascinating enough to spark my interest towards this field. The further intensive research and discussions led me to explore the unbound opportunities present in this field.
In order to fulfill my desire of making a career in the computer science, I opted for computer subjects during my 10th and 12th board exams. My analytical and logical adroitness pumped up with the indefatigable interest towards computer field helped me secure 205th rank in 12th state board exam. The stupendous success in 12th board exam led my way to get into the undergraduate computer course of The Maharaja Sayajirao University, one of the top 3 universities of my state – Gujarat. With my utter interest, sincere efforts and unwavering dedication, I completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science major with distinction and GPA of 3.93; that of the last two years is 3.99.
The university offered comprehensive, detailed and practical knowledge of various subjects like C, C++, JAVA, Database Management System, Operating Systems, and Artificial Intelligence etc. to strengthen my foothold for all upcoming future endeavors. We were judged based upon various projects which gave us a reality check on the inherent software industry. My first project ties back to that of my childhood fascination which had sparked my interest towards computer field. “Jewellsoft” was designed in C using hardware-interrupts and graphics with the aim of handling supply-chain database and creating Incentive & Compensation reports for jewelry management. I later continued developing an interesting web based application namely ‘Online Test Module’ using JAVA as front end and MySQL as back end with the concepts of Client-Server architecture.
To expand my learning horizons, I chose ASP.NET as a front end and Microsoft SQL server as a back end to develop my final year project. The ‘Online Shopping Mall’ aimed at selling electronic items, apparels and food & beverages. It was also designed to maintain the details of showroom products, customer description and shopping cart. The verification of debit/credit card details was secured through PayPal – a global e-commerce business...
