To answer this question we must first understand the definition of racism. “Racism is an act where a person or group of people are discriminated against because of a particular characteristic, or a set of characteristics, they have such as race, color, religion, etc.”- Catherine. Now, not everyone thinks in a racist way, so these individuals are the ones that must stand up to start a movement against racism. When everyone is against one thing, that one thing would come to an end. Some things that have to change in order for racism to end are you have to stand up for your beliefs while respecting the beliefs of others and not taking part in hurtful acts. However, the main thing that has to change in order for racism to stop is us. We’ve got to require certain steps for this massive change to happen.
The primary factor we've got to try and do to end racism is for us to stand up for our beliefs and also to be proud of our heritages, while ...view middle of the document...
The second factor we've got to try and do to destroy racism is not take part in hurtful acts. Why would someone find it entertaining, making another person feel worthless because of a certain characteristic or belief they have? When you continuously have to put up with hatred from other people just because of who you are, you really seem worthless living. Instead of taking part in these cruel acts, one should take part in acts that stand up for equality. For example, standing up for a person when another person is making their life absolutely terrible because of whom they are. Acts of kindness are a key in ending racism because you are giving hope to people that need help. Kindness also encourages friendship, and when you have friends, hateful things people say about you seem to matter a whole lot less. When people recognize that racism is an on-going factor in the world and how it brings negative impacts to society and the future it becomes easier to take action against racism.
The final factor we have to do in order to eliminate racism is accept that racism is a problem and taking action when you see a racist act instead of not caring about it. This can be the foremost important step to end racism. Before we can see change, people have to take a role to make humanity on the path to a racism free world rather than waiting for somebody else stop racism. This is very important because when everyone starts standing up and take action it will encourage change and positivity along with encouraging others to step forward. As John Dickinson once said, "United we stand, divided we fall."
These are just a few ways racism can be stopped. Being a part of the movement to stop racism is the most significant key. Many people these days are doing nothing to stop racism because they are waiting for others to start the movement or some don't believe racism exists, these thoughts cause racism to spread and affect more and more of the human population. What it really takes to end racism is a group of leaders that believe everyone is equal and special in their own way. Together, if we tend to work along to form these changes then perhaps at some point in the future racism will disappear.
