During this essay i’ll be describing the sociological reasons on race, gender, and age discrimation in american society and explain if these problem will diminish or become more prevalent.
In the america society discrimation has played a critical role in effecting the growth of society. Race, gender, and age are the three most common areas of discrimation and can effect people chances to prosper in the workforce and educationally. Gender discrimation doesn’t only affect women men can suffer from these harsh reality also. In america we created this image that their are paticular jobs that are solely just for woman and sociological reasons tell use these jobs are feminist . Such as nursing, child care, hair dressers, or housing keeping. In each of these profession there have been and increase in men working these type of jobs and ignoring the impression the american society have of them and are finding success. Lastly age discramtion and the sociological reason that play into this are older people are slow and cant keep perform at a fast pace. Another socioligical reason the american society has for the elderly is that there stuborn and are stuck in their old school ways. “As people age, declining health limits their ability to get around, and a youth culture encourages negative stereotypes of the elderly as sickly, old-fashioned, or “out of touch,”ideas that may discourage others from interacting with older people” (John J. Macionis, 2013, pg.123). In todays society where technology runs the world the older generation aren’t use to operating computers or fax machince so that diffently puts them at a disadvantage in the modern day work force. Another problem older people suffer from in the working field is there experience. Companies base your salary off the experience you have and with older people having alot of work experience it doesn’t work in there favor in modern society like it did 20 years ago because they would have to pay them...
