Steve Jobs Essay Value of Life
In Steve Jobs’s speech at Stanford University in 2005, he talks about the meaning and the value
of life. In the speech he states, “Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool
I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life”. This sentence has so much
truthfulness in it because sometimes you have to think ahead instead of the past/present. Steve
Jobs’s first part of his speech goes on to tell us that he wants to talk about three stories, just three
about his experience with the value of life.
​Steve Jobs’s first story is basically about connecting the dots and how all the choices that he
thought were the wrong ones at the time actually turned out to be the right ones later on. When
Steve Job’s said this quote, “So I decided to drop out and trust that everything would be OK. It
was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made in my
life”, it was putting on a lot of risk on him at the time because he was trying to pursue what he
loved but he had to drop out of college first. When he was in college, he was wasting his parents
money because he was taking classes that he had no interest in which led him to the decision of
dropping out. For some people, dropping out and pursuing your dream doesn’t work out too well.
