Stress is a part of daily living. It is a condition or feeling experienced when a person perceives that demands exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to mobilize. Stress can be very overwhelming and at times take control of your life. In order to take control of the stress you are experiencing, it is important to apply strategies into your daily routine that will help you cope with the stress and get it under control.
Over the past few weeks, I have used many different coping strategies to deal with my anxiety and lack of sleep. These techniques have included: Exercise, effective time management and eating healthier. Exercise has had a positive impact on not only my body but my mood as well. Going jogging and working out at the gym has helped to alleviate stress and forget about any issues I may be dealing with at the time. A good work out before bedtime makes falling asleep easier as well.
Effective time management has helped improve my daily life. I began putting everything in a calendar and scheduling everything that needs to be done. Getting up early enough for work has always been one of my major issues. Due to lack of sleep, I always get up just in time and seem to always make it to work a minute before I am supposed to clock in. Ever since I have been using a scheduled routine and getting more sleep, I am able to wake up early enough to get to work earlier than before.
Eating healthy has played a huge role in my daily routine. Before I started this class, I would eat unhealthy foods whenever I was experiencing stress. After doing my research, I learned that some foods are harmful and even contribute to feelings of depression and lethargy. I notice that when I incorporated more fruits and vegetables into my diet, I felt more energy which in turn allowed me to get more done.
Eating healthy and exercising has also assisted me with losing weight which has boosted my self-esteem. I recently moved last year and had since gained twenty pounds, which contributed to my stress as well. I have noticed a huge change in my skin and hair and I feel so much better about myself.
Along with the coping techniques that were already a part of my routine, I have also been using music therapy. I use this technique when the day is over and it helps me fall asleep faster. I also listen to music when I am having feelings of anxiety. I discovered that listening to relaxing music helps to calm me down.
• When experiencing anxiety, I will listen to relaxing music.
• I will continue to schedule daily tasks.
• I will continue to exercise to deal with daily stressors.
• Maintain a healthy diet.
• I will talk to someone about my feelings inside of holding it in.
I chose to continue to listening to relaxing music when experiencing anxiety because it really calms me down. Now that I found something to help me, I would like to continue to do it. The only obstacle that I could possibly face is if I experience anxiety while...
