Living in the 21st century, technology is the new and improved way of society. The discovery of technology is an advantage in school environments. Students benefit from usage of technology, which allow them to excel beyond the classroom and expand their learning experience.
The younger children are exposed to technology, the more information they retain. Many parks and recreation agencies support usage of technology for kids. “It is enabling new and exciting ways to build active learning into the physical and virtual classroom and management education in general” (Rollag and Billsberry 743). Technology is a key element in a child’s life that gives them access to a more interactive education. It will allow children to be engaged in reading and exploring information on computers, e-reader and smart tablets. “Tellingly, three in four teachers say that using technology in the classroom motivates kids to learn” (Dolesh 32). The new technology is a different way of teaching with a more hands on learning environment, instead of old school ways such as textbooks and encyclopedias. Children have the opportunity to use these electronic tools to their benefit.
Technology is removing old methods of teaching and replacing it with online tools. LCD projectors and whiteboards have replaced blackboard-based teaching. iPads are the new textbooks, they contain the online web with databases and or apps to find information. “ This technology is helping us finally remove passive learning-more specifically the lecture-out of the physical and virtual classroom, freeing up time for more active learning” (Rollag and Billsberry 744). The old methods would take much longer and is more difficult than new technology. One search on a tablet and you are given all the information on the screen infront of you. “The rise of YouTube and other streaming video repositories have provided instructors lots of explanatory and demonstrative material” (Rollag and Billsberry 746).
