Debate in Education
Gruszczynska, Guy and Richard (p.203) define digital media as an electronic media which serves as the current form of data storage, whereby the data itself is stored in digital form. Digital media refers to the transmission and storage technical aspect of any information or rather to the “end product. When someone talks of end product he is referring to the final product yielded from these digital forms of storage or digital media which include: digital signage, digital video, digital audio, augmented reality or digital art. These schools are describe by poor education, performance and have high students’ population. However, different governments have been in the verge of initiating transformation in these state schools through inducing digital media into the schools’ curriculum. This has been facilitated through the current debates that are operational in education systems.
As Peppler (pp.2118-2153) argues, the educational reform debates have been existence for quite some time and this has been contributed to due to the lack of new idea to displace those old-fashioned preoccupied reformers who have been in operation for a quarter decade. These old-establishments have been rising up misguided ideas and that is why public education has been overtaken by private sector schools’ education. However, there have been current new debates under new leadership, which is primarily focused on initiating changes in public education. These debates have been referred to as the new era of reform. Under this new debate end there has been conferences held in different countries to discuss the way forward in improving public education. Some of these new debate members/reformers have focused on testing as a means of improving this public education in both primary and secondary schools (Tripp 338). For example, in U.S. the federal government has engage in this process by initiating nation-side assessment of educational progress. This has created pressure in most of the public schools and thus being able to increase the performance and educational standards. Based on President Bush’s initiation of No Child Left Behind Act (2001), this laid a basis for improvement in public education in America.
As Egea-Kuehne (p.6) denotes, the technological innovation has enabled teaching practice to be easier, especially in secondary schools and post-secondary public institutions. Most studies digitally. Students have been provided with this digital media to help them be innovative online without even meeting their teachers. Gerdenitsch (p.38) argues that teachers have also provided with technological gadgets such as laptops, which help them in preparing their lesson in advance and present it to the class using projectors. Also, as per the new technique by different governments to inspect educational progress, most of these state schools have upgraded their standards and the teaching staff recruited are highly trained, unlike former status when these current debates were not established.
