Those were just restrictions! Here are a few rules that were new at the time. The people couldn’t adopt because age, weight, income, health, marital status. That was a big shock to me!
8 magical steps
How you begin to adopt is there are 8 steps. Here they are, Initial Consultation and Adoption Assessment, Dossier Consulting (Dragon Dossier Service also available) Matching, Referral Education, Travel Coordination, Trip to China, Post Adoption. The worst law in China is the 1 child law. So those are the 8 steps. My parents went through all that just to adopt me.

Here is how it all started. Well International adoption began in 1992, and of course it is possible adopt internationally. So Central authority only let orphanages put a small amount of babies up for adoption leaving a big number of kids behind. Not right. Don’t worry the law changed. Here are a few of the orphanages in the Gazuoi province, Anlong, Dejing, and Duyun, there are 15 more orphanages. Again not sure which one I come from but I am sure I came from one of these.
The big, big rules!
I think the big thing that keeps people from adopting is eligibility. Oh there are a lot of rules. Here are a few. A parent must be a US citizen, married couples 30-49 years old or less can adopt from China, parent must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent. The person must be able to financially support a child. Also the person cannot adopt if they have, previous history/diagnosis of cancer DUI or DWI charges within the last 5 years. Yes there are a lot of rules!

So what I think about the whole adoption process it is amazing. Without the International adoption I most likely wouldn’t be here typing this paper. I don’t remember this, but I have pictures.
