Mid-Term Essay - The pros and cons of immigration

Immigration is the movement of people between countries. People are moving from their home country to search for better opportunities, career or education a chance for better life. People are looking for business opportunities, experience, or may have personal reasons such as family or marriage.
If I we are talking about positive and negative aspects of immigration we can look at it from two sides: The pros and cons from the point of view of the people who are immigrating and from the point of the host country and people living in it. There are a lot of reasons why people decide to leave their home country and move abroad. This decision is accompanied with many risks, there is no certainty when you are going to an unknown land, you can never be sure what to expect. In my opinion the possible gain from moving has to be bigger than the risk that immigrants are undertaking. They have to consider all the possibilities and the outcome is that this is the best choice or the only possible choice, if they want to survive or have fulfilling life. The chance for improving the living conditions is better possibility than the current state.
What pros and cons does immigration bring to the immigrants? Some people are immigrating because they are educated and are looking for job opportunities not available in their country, some are moving because of the better and higher quality education. They may have family or friends abroad and who promised them some work position, accommodation or vision of better life. Or the immigrant´s, wife or husband is from a foreign country and they want to be with them, they have to move abroad. The positive outcomes of immigration could be better living conditions, happier life, job satisfaction, learning about culture, learning new languages and possibility of better education than in home country.
In the picture below is displayed the amount of immigrant who are speaking English on which level in particular years. We can see the more time immigrants have spent in the United States, the more likely they are to speak English (in earlier years higher proportion of immigrants spoke only English or spoke very well, while a higher proportion of them in the following years have weaker language ability). This means that nowadays immigrant are taking even higher risk if approximately 50 % of them is not able to communicate in English language.

We can see the negative side of the immigration when we compare our vision and expectations with the reality. For a person who is moving because of the job opportunity and there is no job available, for the student the education is too expensive, and there will not be any scholarship provided. Immigrant has to work really hard, with two jobs while studying or start working full time and try to save some money for future studies....
