"Kylie. You have to go to school today." my mom insisted.
"No, but I'm still not feeling well. I have a head ache."
"No excuses, Missy. I think you are perfectly fine."
After I saw that on Facebook yesterday, now I really wished I could skip school. I let out a deep sigh. It was time to confront with that matter.
Then, when I was about to enter my classroom, I spotted Roxanne and stopped her.
"We need to talk." I told her.
"I have nothing to talk about, with you." she scoffed.
"No, I've been trying to talk to you since yesterday."
"Fine, make it fast. Guys, go ahead first." Roxanne told the other girls.
"How could you do this to me, Roxanne? I told you how much I liked Jake. And, Jake was the one who asked me out," I blurted out.
"Kylie, Kylie. Always so naive. Don't you get it? Jake used you; for me," she stated, as if it was such an obvious fact.
"What do you mean he used me?"
"Look; did you really think that a guy like Jake, would like a girl like... you? A nerd? He only tried to be closer to you, because he wanted to date me."
I stopped for a moment.
"But... Roxanne... you could have rejected him- why, why did you have to accept him, when you clearly knew that I liked him? I thought... we were best friends. You could have at least told me what was going on..."
Roxanne laughed, as if it was a hilarious joke. "Best friends? Yeah, till the 7th grade. At least, I tried to put up with you- all this while."
"Put up with me? But, Roxanne...What about those times when we had so much fun together? What about those times when I told you my secrets?"
"You're really dumber than I thought you were. You really don't get it, don't you?"
Then, she shoved me out of the way and added, "Wait up for the exciting events."
I shut my eyes for a moment. The words she said echoed in my ears for a long time. Her second bit of her responses weren't expected, but actually, I did have a feeling that... our friendship wouldn't last any longer.
My trust in her was completely destroyed from that moment- like a glass jar plunged to the grounds, forever, and always... shattered.
My lips trembled.. I thought I was primed for the break of our friendship, but somewhere deep inside my heart, it ached. I didn't exactly know why; but it ached.
When I came back, after lunch, I heard Lucy and Sam gossiping in the classroom, and paused- I was hesitant to enter.
"What's wrong with that nerdy girl?" Lucy, the girl who squealed about Austin last time, hissed.
"You mean Kylie?" the other girl, Sam asked.
Wait. Me? Why are they gossiping about me?
"She's such a slut." Lucy snarled.
"Why? She's seems alright. She's just a little boring though." Sam replied.
"Don't you know? Half of the school already knows; You know how Roxanne and Jake had a 'thing' going on right? They had feelings for each other."
"Well, Kylie tried to steal Jake the whole time, from Roxanne- but of course, which guy would choose her among other...
