This commercialization has an effect on many households and therefore changes the whole concept of education, especially the student teacher relationship, the purposes of education and the attitudes towards education. Commercialization of education has a greater effect on the stakeholders involved, such as the student’s teachers, administrators and parents because of the shift from the vertical relationship in a horizontal relationship where the role of the teachers and that of the student changes to that of a business and clients (Bok 75).
The commercialization of sports is illustrated by the amount of money that is involved in sport. Stakeholders in the sector are using lots of money to improve their performances with an objective of making profit. Sport has changed its form and dimension and longer only a source of entertainment, but also as a commercial sector. The elements of sport are no longer confined to the field, but extend to different contexts through the use of social media. With commercialization of sport players can enjoy more financial freedom and has made sports a desired career. Commercialization of sport has also helped improve other sectors such as the media sector as the games can be televised and viewed by millions across the world. Such commercialization however does not come with undesired effects and these effects include the shift in the attitude of players to view the sport. Before the commercialization the players were motivated to play due to their passion for the game, but commercialization changed their motivation to money. Commercialization has also increased the cases of doping and matches fixing as well as an increase in conflicts due to the expectations to always perform (Zhen-xi 24).
