Imagine yourself ten years from now. From now till then, you will have short and long-term goals that will either be achieved or ignored. The achievement of success is by accomplishing your goals with the happiness that comes along with it. Achieving your goals is an ongoing process throughout the lives of humans until there is no more to gain. Although, society makes people believe success is measured by the money and monetary items.

Wealthy families who send their children to school consider themselves successful. An Israeli woman was asked to move to Las Angeles to be a part of the film industry (Seger 1). Her reply was, “Probably not since I can’t imagine being that far away from my family” (Seger 1). Rather than having a successful a job to buy monetary items, the Israeli woman would rather spend life with her family.
The true meaning of success is when a person can feel happy about the life they are living (Fields 1). “Success without happiness is failure,” said by Anthony Robbins, a motivational speaker (Fields 1). If monetary objects don’t make a person deeply happy then they don’t have success. We must be happy with what we do in life in order to be successful (Fields 1). If a person is happy to show up McDonalds every day because it is their favorite job, then they are successful. There is no point in being rich if it does not bring happiness to the individual. Going to or coming back from work, while making an abundance of money, and feeling unsatisfied is pointless. People should be able to go to a have a job and be happy. For example, a man named Geoffrey James was unhappy with his job, but declared successful by other people (James 1). Mr. James was a marketing executive for six years and traveled to extravagant places, such as Paris in France (James 1). It already sounds as though Mr. James makes a comfortable living, by being an executive, and he gets to work in different areas of the world. However, Geoffrey James found happiness in doing what he loved most; being a writer (James 1). This is how Mr. James describes his experience changing careers, “When I made the leap to writing full time, my income dropped to almost nothing. Even so, I was far happier doing what I knew I was supposed to be doing rather than pursuing a career that too many people would define success” (James 1). Success is not measured by money...
