The Fascinations of Art
The earth without art would be lifeless. We would just live in a world where everything would be black and white, with no movement, no texture, and no culture. Art is used all over the world to tell stories of people’s pasts and futures. It allows people to have a voice of their own that can tell the world what they feel without saying a word. It’s hard to think of a society without artists who want to bring life into this stale world of ours. Painting is a remunerative career which has an appealing and breathtaking history, provides a growing education and training, and benefits security through a positive ...view middle of the document...
They should also be open to any type of criticism that may or may not hurt them. In order to become a painter, a person must take studio-art, art history, drawing, painting, and design classes (157). Not only does an artist have to be skilled in drawing or painting, but he/she must also have to have the ability to create art and look at other people’s artwork to manipulate their work into their own art.
There are not many hazards in art, although some mediums of art may contain hazardous chemicals. For example, in spray painting, one could be exposed to certain types of fumes that can cause problems with one’s skin or respiratory system. One has to be careful and read labels just in case one puts their health at risk. Some other hazards include “exposure to pollutants, gases, dusts, fumes, odors, poor ventilation, etc” ("Fine Artist"). Painters should be extremely careful when they deal with hazardous chemicals. They should also use various types of protection in case the chemicals get in their body. Although art poses some risks, it also has its own benefits, like earnings. The statistics show that fine artists get paid around $44,850 annual wage and $21.34 per hour ("Craft and Fine Arts”), which is a quite an elevated salary for an artist. Painters should not procrastinate; they should always meet their deadlines. In addition, the benefits in this career are that no one can specifically tell you how to create art. There are no rules in creating art; all a person basically needs is a mind. Other benefits of art are that “employment is expected to increase because of population growth, rising income, and increases in the number of people who appreciate fine art” (Camenson 41). Each and every person has their own perspective of art, so different clients would want to buy an artist’s specific type of creations. There is no requirement to be in the fine artist field, but in order to make a living out of it, a person must have either a bachelors or graduate degree program (Camenson 41).
Some of the best universities that include art in their major program are UT Austin and School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. The cost to attend UT Austin is 5,005 for a semester plus house charge ("Undergraduate Admissions"). As you can see the cost is relatively low compared to other prestigious colleges. In order to apply, one needs to complete an Apply Texas application, have a portfolio submitted, and respond to essay topic D in the Apply Texas website ("Undergraduate Admissions"). One’s portfolio must consist of the student’s artwork and of course, their individual ideas as an artist. When deciding what university one will go to, one must be aware of the crime rate of that university. At UT Austin, for example, there have been assaults, burglary, theft, and auto theft ("Records and Reports"), but there are also many other benefits to this university. Characteristics that make UT Austin appealing are that they offer an undergraduate program pursuing...
