What’s more, all the games are televised live! Really gives the readers a spiritual shock!
This novel is “Narrow” and “Deep”. In the novel, “Panem, the country that rose up out of the aches of a place that was once called North America…… as our yearly reminder that the Dark Days must never be repeated it gave us the Hunger Games.” (6) The hunger games is an annual television program, the Capitol of the nation of Panem by means of a draw ceremony to choose a boy and a girl in each district, and the child's life would be threatened, they are between the ages of 12 and 18 years, from 12 districts, they were forced to fight to the death. Until a person defeated all others besides him/her, that person is a champion. He/She can have a new House, with lots of foods, fame and fortune.
“All year, the Capitol will show the winning district gifts of grain and oil and even delicacies like sugar while the rest of us battle starvation.”(7) Arena was arranged by artificial forests, wilderness. In the competition, hunting, tracking, hunger, camouflage and so on, were live on television across the country, and everyone must watch and celebrate as a holiday. To Capitol, this is an annual event, is a game. To the 12 districts, this is a torment.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, survival is her instinct, she relies on the outside of District12 to support her family. “I only have to pass a few gates to reach the scruffy field called the Meadow. Fortunately, she has a “drunken mentor” who is former victor, Haymitch Abernathy.
