The Italian diet is a healthy one and despite popular belief,the vast majority of Italians are not overweight. Many components in their diet help that conclusion be real. The way that they cook,the foods that they eat,and even how much time they take eating,all results in them having a healthy lifestyle and not having a large percentage of obese people.
The Italian cuisine has some foods that are very common in Italian food. Some of these foods are olive oil,tomatoes,garlic,seafood,whole grains,beans,dark leafy greens,nuts,and red wine. They also do not use processed or refined products. They mostly use natural and fresh ingredients for their cooking. They also use olive oil instead of butter when cooking. An Italians daily eating routine consists of a breakfast that is not very large and usually is made up of a coffee and a pastry. Lunch is the largest meal of the day. Italians usually take a lunch break from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. They use that time to gather around at a table and eat slowly and have family time. Then there is snack,which kids usually have after school. Finally,there is dinner. Dinner is not very big and is light. The way that Italians cook and eat their meals is very beneficial to their health. They do not use processed or refined products,which means that their bodies are not getting all the chemicals that refined products bring. Olive oil has less saturated fat than butter or lard and adds less calories to meals. The time that they take to eat their meals is also an important factor. It is important because the more time you take to eat the less calories you ingest before you are full.
