The Legend of the Chupacabra has been around for many years now and is almost becoming more and more believable. There have been plenty of sightings and detailed descriptions of what this beast looks like. Many say it stands at about three feet with big red eyes and has shriveled hairless skin (“National Geographic Society”). Even though there are multiple facts and sightings that could potentially prove that this creature is real, some still do not believe it. There are scientist and researchers that go out everyday to try and find more about this creature, with all this effort being put into this, it is very hard to believe that it is not real. There are many facts out there to prove that it is real, the stories themselves prove it, now it is time to convince everyone why they should believe in this furless beast.
In order to prove to everyone this creature is real, stories should be told in order to persuade them. The first sightings of this creature started around 1995, when a man was noticing his animals acting strange on his farm in Puerto Rico. He really didn’t understand why they were acting strange that night, although they seemed very afraid of something. The next morning he woke up to find his two goats dead, and the next couple nights he began his search for what has done it. One night he saw a creature that was the perfect description of what is known as the Chupacabra today. The name Chupacabra literally means “goat-sucker” so from that day on the search had began and is still continuing in Central America and even the US (“Unique Facts about Mexico: Chupacabra”). This is just one of the countries that have been affected by this animal and something tells me it isn’t going to be the last.
It is a fact that the legend of the Chupacabra did originate in Puerto Rico, however it is not the only place that has experienced this wild creature. Many countries such as Chile, Mexico, and even the US have come into some sort of contact with this same beast. In Chile, in a small mining town by the name of Calama, a man found a couple of his goats dead, not only goats but also sheep. This incident created Chile’s supposedly first attack by a Chupacabra, the rumors spread like crazy and some even think that this is the home of this creature now ("Animal Planet"). In the United States there have been many reports to similar attacks. Some of these states include Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico, these states have apparently all witnessed a Chupacabra first hand. Since there is no hard proof that this beast even exist and isn’t a different animal already discovered, it makes it very difficult for anyone to believe in it.
There is a very specific reason this legend is important, and this story should be shared. Raul Vasquez, the grandfather of the person writing this paper, was actually born in Puerto Rico. In the early 80s he moved to New York City, and then to good ole Ohio. Even though the Chupacabra was discovered in more of the late 90s, Raul...
