Today almost everyone has a smartphone in his or her pocket. Most likely the smartphone is running one of two major mobile operating systems: Android or iOS. If one if offered the latest version, Android 4.4 KitKat or iOS 7, which one should they choose? There are many differences, as well as similarities, between iOS 7 and Android 4.4 KitKat, and each has its pros and cons. Noticeable differences between these mobile operating systems include unique features, such as widgets on Android, as well as differences in apps. In addition to the many differences, there are several main similarities between iOS and Android as well, such as multitasking compatibility. Mobile operating systems iOS 7 and Android 4.4 KitKat have many differences and similarities, and there is no clear winner.
Both iOS 7 and Android 4.4 KitKat are mobile operating systems, but they have many significant differences. First, Android offers widgets on the home screen, while iOS does not. Widgets add many features for advanced users, but might be confusing for beginners. iOS offers TouchID compatibility, while Android does not have this feature. This is an important feature for those users who need fingerprint identification on their devices. Next, the mobile operating systems use very different apps for the same purposes. For example, the default web browser on iOS is Safari, whereas Android’s browser is Google Chrome. Siri performs actions based on voice recognition on iOS, while Google Now serves the same purpose on Android. Each app has exclusive features, as well as a unique interface. Neither operating system has “better” apps, so users must make a choice based on their own preferences.
