Disaster synonyms used by practitioners and experts have included calamity and catastrophe. Similar words are emergency and crisis. According to Alexander (2000), disasters are abrupt shocks to the socio-economic and environmental system, involving loss of life and property.
Houses, buildings, bridges and overpass are the most affected when it comes to disaster. Nowadays the population of the world is increasing rapidly. New homes and accommodation should be built for this additional population. Some believe that more houses should be constructed in existing towns and cities. Other believe that creating entirely new towns in the countryside to accommodate these houses are the best way.
Construction of buildings and houses nowadays is quite easy and convenient compared to the technique used for the past few years. In building houses, it must be strong and settle properly from end to end.
The importance of this study is to exhibit the technique used as of today. One of this is steel framing. A building technique with a skeleton frame or vertical steel column and horizontal I- beams constructed in a rectangular grid to support the roof and walls of the house. This framing steel provide and produce a strong house in a disaster like typhoon, flood , earthquakes.
This kind of framing steel is necessary for the construction as of today that disaster occur from time to time. It cannot be predicted but by this, it is a great help for us to lessen the cost of construction but it also reduce the risk of one’s life.
Statement of the Problem
This study aims to determine the productive use of framing steel in building houses in a disaster prone are.
Specifically , it sought to answer the following questions:
1. How durable is the framing steel house in terms of disaster?
2. How safe is framing steel in building houses in a disaster prone area?
3. What is the significant difference between the ordinary house and the house with a framing steel?
Natural disasters happen all over the world, and they can be utterly devastating for people’s lives and the environments in which they live. Although natural disasters are caused by nature and there is nothing that we can do to prevent them happening, there are many different natural causes that lead to natural disasters, and being aware of these causes enables us to be better prepared when such disasters do arrive.
