A lot of women love to look good on a day to day basis, so a cosmetologist is what they need. A cosmetologist is a beauty specialist who is educated in doing hair, makeup, and nails. It’s very interesting because you get to be creative, have fun, have people looking gorgeous, and get paid for doing something you love. In this paper, you will be introduced to a lot of information in the field of cosmetology. Learning about the history and background, requirements to obtain the career and job positions will be covered throughout this paper. Towards the end you’ll get a touch of the job reflection and outlook. A lot of great information is listed, so there should be plenty of it learned.
Cosmetology has been around since the ancient times and the Egyptians. It was the Egyptian women who gave a lot of importance to hair care, nails, makeup, and overall beauty. The natural look changed the reverted look to the cosmetic look. As years roll by, cosmetology and the business of looking good began to pick up a huge amount of customers. Getting hair curled, ironed, or wavy is very popular now. A lot of women today all over the world want to look like their favorite star. It was that need and craze to look good, which made cosmetology successful as it is today. Shekinah Jo Anderson is a professional hair stylist with just a few years of professional experience. She has already struck celebrity status, and is a rising star in the beauty industry. Shekinah is very successful because she mastered, advanced and contemporary techniques in cosmetology at the Empire Beauty School in Atlanta.
Prospecting cosmetology students usually need to have a high school diploma or GED, to enroll in a cosmetology program. Full cosmetology training usually covers hairstyling, nail care techniques, and makeup. All states require that cosmetologists be licensed. It entails graduating from a state approved program and completing a state licensing exam. In cosmetology you pursue an associate degree. A master’s degree is not available in cosmetology. Community colleges like Remington College, and Virginia College in Baton Rouge has a cosmetology program. After graduating cosmetology school, finding a job in that field become a challenge. One of the first places to look for a job after graduation is the community in which your beauty school is located. Most likely the salon owner and manager are already familiar with the school. Getting a small job in a salon as wash girl or something simple can be a start to work yourself on up. To be very successful in this career you have to be a unique, creative person when it comes down to different hair styles, different makeup, and different nail designs.
