The Point Of Views Of Abortion Both Pro Life And Pro Choice.

1610 words - 6 pages

The answer to many unplanned pregnancies is abortion. Abortion is a legal way to discharge the fetus from growing inside a female's womb. Many people will argue that this process is morally incorrect while others will argue that it is acceptable. In this issue there is two opposing sides that have been disagreeing since this controversy was brought to the public. The two sides are pro-life (against abortion) and pro-choice (to have the choice for abortion).Pro-life supporters believe that abortion should be illegal. To them abortion is a crime because you kill the fetus, which in their eyes it is a future living human. Christians are a majority of the pro-life supporters. Their point of view is that in God's eyes, a fetus is a living child. Pro-choice supporters believe that abortion should be legal, because it is their choice and no one else's choice. America's given freedom makes them feel that they live their own life. Pro-choice people believe that the constitution gives them the right to be able to make their own decisions about abortion. The First amendment of the United States Constitution states:"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech; or of right of the press; of right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." (Constitution of the United States)This amendment gives any human on United States soil the right to make his or her own choices. At current pace the Earth's future will have over population and hardly any resources left for everyone to live off of. An estimated 46 million abortions worldwide are performed every year. At that pace in a little more than 5 years the number of abortions would be greater than the population of the United States. (Planned Parent HoodFederation of America Site) Abortion helps keep our population in control enough to have enough resources for everyone. These benefits are not only for the female, but also for the world.Pro-life supporters argue that it is wrong to kill anything with emotions or a soul. They feel that anything with emotions or a soul is a living thing and a creation of god. To them it is wrong to kill or harm any creation of god.The Bible is a big influence in the United States since most of the population is Christian. The Bible states:"If men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no further injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman's husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide. 23 But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise." Exodus 21:22-25The death of a fetus only results in a fine. This proves that in the Bible a fetus is nothing more than property. In biblical times drinking poison...
