The word abortion means the induced removal of a fetus from the womb before it is able to survive independently. Abortions are legal, which has been the case for many years, but they are very unethical. Women believe there are many reasons to abort such as rape, fear of raising a child, or not having enough money to take care of a child. Whatever the situation, there is never a suitable reason to get an abortion. Some important reasons why women should not abort have to deal with values of conscience, human morals, as well as health issues.
The first reason why women shouldn’t abort their pregnancy is related to their conscience. Many females have lifelong regrets after they’ve gone through with the procedure. When a woman has an abortion, she will always think about the baby she might have had. This thought will stay in the back of the mother’s head. Some things such as walking next to a park with kids playing, seeing baby clothing in a department store, or when a friend or loved one recently has a child, can trigger this thought. “Some women suppress the feelings for a time, and initially report that they feel "relieved" — but sooner or later the consequences come out in a host of areas of her life” (Kaufman, 2006). She will always think about the future that could have happened with her baby, which will remind her that she didn’t give the child the opportunity to live.
In addition to her conscience, another reason why a woman should not have an abortion is due to human morals. Abortion is an extremely notorious issue because while some people are completely against it, others believe that a woman should have the right to choose. “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and the security of person. Thus, human life is held to be both inviolable and inalienable” (Fleming, 1996). One such consequence is getting pregnant. When a woman gets pregnant, it is usually a result of her own choices, even if the pregnancy is unwanted or unplanned. Women need to think about the unborn babies who are not responsible for the situation the women are in. These unborn babies should have the right to live and grow into normal people. It is wrong to kill innocent human beings, which is exactly what a fetus is. Maybe if abortion wasn't available, people wouldn't be so careless in the first place.
In the instance of rape and incest, there is proper medical care that can ensure that a woman will not get pregnant. Abortion punishes the unborn child who committed no crime instead of not punishing the perpetrator who committed the crime. “Many women who become pregnant through sexual assault do not believe in abortion, believing it would be a further act of violence perpetrated against their bodies and their children. Further, many believe that their children’s lives may have some intrinsic meaning or purpose which they do not yet understand. This child was brought into their lives by a horrible, repulsive act… Good can come from evil” (Elliot Institute, 2004)....
