In ministry it is important to note that the different people involved in your ministry will be at different stages of their spiritual growth. Having an awareness of your own personal theology will be important for how you go about teaching the students who are involved in your youth ministry. One part of personal theology is spiritual formation. Duffy Robbins states that spiritual formation is, “the growing into the likeness of Jesus” (448). Similar to having moral aspects of our beings, we have spiritual aspects, which is more than what God intended for animals to have. Third, “we have an ability to reason and think logically and learn, which sets us apart from the animal world” (446). Fourth, “we have an ability to relate to God” (447). Finally, our physical bodies are created in the image of God. As can be seen, God created man to be similar to Him, which was much different than the way that he created animals. It is evident through each of these five aspects that human’s are created in the image of God and that we need to understand that in a practical way and apply it in our ministry.
Salvation does not just take place at one time. It is not a one-time occurrence, but something that is continuously happening.
