This Essay Is An Arguementative Paper, Which Is Written In Apa

658 words - 3 pages

Should a person be assisted in suicide if they are terminally ill? This is a questionthat raises much controversy, some feel it is justifiable while others feel it is wrongany way it is looked at. Should a person have to suffer through an unbearable disease?only to pass away in the end? These are some questions that doctors are trying todetermine if it is a reasonable case. Many people feel that death is something that shouldoccur naturally and without aid. I feel people should have the right to assisted suicideif that individual has no chance of survival. The only state as of right now is Oregon, which permits assisted suicide to becarried out. All the other states have yet to allow this form of suicide as a means toavoid major pain ...view middle of the document...

That is absolutely no way for aperson to live, they have no life and nothing to live for.The problem is quite extensive, because many people are terminally ill and haveno way of receiving any kind of aid or assistance. These people are living with daily painand can only pray that the day will come when it will end their suffering. If this is notaddressed than more people will have to suffer gravely and will not have the option toCancel their own existence. These people need to know that they have a way out, something that can end their misery. I can imagine that these patients are living on aday to day basis of pure uncertainty. Each passing day is another that will bring themcloser to death. It is a time of great emotional strain and an uncertainty that is enough todrive someone nuts. Could you live under these grueling conditions? I know I would notbe able to live life that way, something would have to give. I researched this topic andone of the articles that I used was entitled "The Right to Die".In conclusion, this is something that a person must choose on their own as thebest way to end suffering. I do feel personally that a person should have the optionto die without as much pain and suffering. A person should have the right to end lifebefore it becomes too painful or exhausting. Life is precious I agree with that statement, and I believe there is a God. However, in these specific situations, people are onlyliving in constant agony. I am sure that they would rather be put to rest before they areunable to make reasonable decisions, as the illness progresses. Again, this is what Ifeel is the humane way to treat a person, especially under the dire circumstances.
