People paradox questions
1) What are the challenges facing the populations of India, Kenya, and Japan? What are the issues facing each country? How might each country's issues be addressed?
There are many challenges and issues facing the population of India, Kenya and Japan. Firstly, gender issue is a big problem in India. Now days, couples prefer boys than girls because boys take care of them when they become old. Also, they don't have to pay any dowry. Due to that, there are almost 35,000 fewer women than men in India. Secondly, the population is so high in India. Thus the arithmetic density is also high. This happens because most people in India especially Northern India are uneducated and thus are unaware of birth control devices. Due to the high population, India faces difficulty in producing food for all. Thirdly, women in India are not powerful and they are the property of their husbands. They don't haven have the control of their own reproductive system.
Japan also faces several population problems. The main problem of Japan is that the fertility rate has fallen unexpectedly to 1.3 children per woman. The population is increasing rapidly in most of other Asian countries; however Japan's population is decreasing. It is said that if it continues to happen like this, by 2050, one-third of the people of Japan will be over 65 years old. The main reason why the fertility rate has fallen is that Japanese don't have time to make babies. They work 14 hours a day. The daughters don't even have time to look after their parents because most women are working. Japanese unlike most other countries encourages people to have children.
Kenya also faces many population problems. The main problem unlike Japan is that the fertility rate is so high. The average fertility rate is around 4 children per woman. Due to that, the population is raising rapidly, while they don't have enough resources. Another main problem in Kenya is AIDS. Almost 6/8 of the total population of Kenya are affected with HIV. Due to many diseases and lack of facilities, the average life expectancy is only 49 years old. Most Kenyans, like Indians, are uneducated and are unaware of birth control devices. Many women turn out to be a prostitute in order to take care of her siblings and will have sex with out condoms to make more money. However, there is a great chance for her to get AIDS because almost 6/8th of the total population of Kenya has AIDS. Kenyan's also start making children at their young age. Another huge problem is Kenya is that working age people are so less and thus the country is poor because there is no one to provide for the needs of young kids and old people.
In order to solve the problems in India, education and jobs should be given to women. By giving that, women will become powerful and will no longer be the property of their husbands. Also dowry system should be banned in India. Also,...
