VIETNAM (1945-1975)The event of history that I have researched for the upcoming History Fair is The Vietnam War. In my opinion, The Vietnam War was one of the most pathetic, useless, worthless wars. This was not even really considered because of many reasons after the war came to an end. When it did there was no victor to be found because there was none. Also, there was no meaning to the war and I believe many people died for the sake of nothing.Ho Chi Minh was the leader of the Vietnamese rebel army. On September 2, 1945, Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the independence of Vietnam from French rule. This act that he had taken place after seven years of war with the French. After this conflict Ho Chi Minh sets up government at Hanoi in north.There were many important dates during the Vietnam War. In 1954 when Vietminh defeated the French in the battle of Dien Bien Phu, and where the French agree to sign a peace agreement in Geneva, Switzerland.1955 was a very important year. In this year General Ngo Dinh Diem wipes out opponents and becomes president of South Vietnam. He argued greatly about the communist government ruled by Ho Chi Minh. He argued because Ho Chi Minh would not allow a fair election in 1956.In 1961-1963 the rebels that are called Viet Cong soldiers, grew in size and seemed to be ready to topple President Ngo Dinh Diem. Also, President Kennedy rushed 15,000 American Green Beret soldiers to train the ARVN in jungle warfare. The ARVN stands for Army of the Republic of Vietnam....
