This I Believe Essay

Throughout this fall semester in our QFM class, we discussed several topics related to finding our meaning in the world. This course allowed us through reading learns more about the outer community in a global perspective. Moreover, the discussions in class allow students from various different majors to answer their opinion and logical thought of the subject. I was always interested in learning and gaining knowledge about the existence of the earth. Thus, through this semester I decided to reflect about the meaning of human existence on planet earth. And how the effects of destruction, pain, and suffering in the world could have larger consequences than we thought. Humans are the only ...view middle of the document...

According to Dostoyevsky quote we need to find something to live for, and if we do not change how us humans use the world, we might become extinct because of the effects of the climate changes. I believe that climate changes can cause dominant species to become extinct; leaving space for another species to evolve and be dominant in this planet we still call Earth.
Different from most species Humans have developed an intelligence level superior to every living thing from Earth. Using intelligence humans were able to become civilized and creating technology which would allow us to do more. Other animals have intelligence too, dolphins were observed teaching skills to their young. But we were able to use this intelligence and knowledge to create one of the most effective language which is the main source of communication oral and written. We used our intelligence to develop technology which we use to be more efficient and go farther as a dominant species. Throughout history we observed that growth and progression are related to innovations on technology. Reading Copenhagen, we observed how technology can also be used in wars in form of atomic bombs. Furthermore, Copenhagen related technology and science to the morality of humans being responsible for drastic changes in our world within technology and environment. In my opinion, the Copenhagen play made me realize that every action has a consequence, and all the action are caused by human activities. I believe that we are experiencing consequences due to our purpose in always progressing into being more dominant between ourselves than as specie. The consequences include wars, poverty and changes in our ecosystem. The question is if we are wise enough as homo sapiens to change and living with a purpose pursuing the need of the world community as a whole. In that reason, I always try to make important life choices that will have less consequences to me and others instead of just me. I believe I changed my view the more I learned of my major in Economics and read about consequnces of developed countries used technology to become more powerful. Leaving other countires in a term called “third world country” or only developing now. I do not know how I would behave in a scenario similar to Copenhagen. I believe my choices I make among alternatives always make me want to learn more about the world its existence and what will happen in the future.
If somebody asked me if I believe at global warming, I would not know the answer. I always use the approach of learning and gaining knowledge before a decision. Global warmimg is an example because after discussions from QFM I would return to my room and study about every detail of Global warming, After reading the book from Bill McKibben, Eaarth: Making Life on a Tough New Planet, I took that his message was to tell us that we need to remember one thing over all the environment change, that Earth is our home and only home. Everybody knows that once you lose your...
