This Is A Paper Written On The Internet And Its Effects On Society. It Is Opinionated Also, So It Is Not Just Fact. It Was Written For My Business Law Class.

766 words - 3 pages

Is the Internet good for Society? From the reading I have done, and the conclusions I have drawn, I think that the internet is not good for society.First of all, the internet has gotten so technical that at times its impossible to find what you are looking for. If you don't know what you are doing you will end up lost and frustrated. Some people may even end up where they shouldn't be. What about the people that are researching a topic but don't use the computer very often? There are so many different places to look that they don't even know where to begin.More and More people in society today are spending more time on the internet then doing their everyday things that they used to. Instead of watching the news or reading the newspaper, millions of people are beginning to waste there time in chat rooms and other internet sites. Another disadvantage is that people aren't spending as much time with their families as they should. Addiction is a re-ocuring problem that is being found. Some daily activities are pushed aside because there isn't enough time anymore. There are so many things to see and do on the internet that addiction is easy. Things such as: Chat rooms, instant messages, games, pornography, and other internet sites.Instant messaging can become a problem when it is used in place of the phone. People start spelling things wrong purposely, and not typing right. This affects the way people use grammar in the offices or at school. After a while, when people get used to writing like this there grammar and word usage can become sloppy and poor. The internet is very dangerous when it is used for chatting and meeting people. It is ok when the conversations are just left at the computer but when they are taken to the phone or in person can be extremely dangerous. People online can be misleading. You can so easily pretend to be someone you are not and sent photos of anyone. A great amount of kidnappings, murders, and rape victims are due to meeting that misleading person online. Not only does the internet take away from a persons daily life and activities, but when...
