Anne Lammot once said "When writers write from a place of insight and real caring about the truth, they have the ability to throw the lights on for the character". This means that an Author uses his character to show their own personal views about society. It is much easier for the reader to relate to what the author is talking about if the author is speaking about something that goes on in society. I agree with this quote because when the author writes about something that the reader can relate to, the reader is able to see the true meaning of the story. This is evident in many books. Two books which I could relate this quote to are Death of a Salesman by Arthur miller and The Crucible by Arthur Miller.
This quote can be applied to Death of a Salesman in a sense that Arthur Miller used Willy Loman to show his point of view about different aspects of life. Through the literary element of theme Arthur Miller shows how this quote is true. The theme that he uses is wrong interpretation of the American dream. Arthur Miller uses Willy Loman to show that not everyone has the same view of the American dream. It also showed that it is not easy to accomplish the American dream. He used Willy Loman to get that point across. It showed that just because society believes in the American dream it doesn't mean that everyone can accomplish it. We as a reader can relate to this...
