Three Main Reasons Societies Fall Essay

737 words - 3 pages

Can you imagine a society where there are no problems at all? Well unfortunately there are no societies today with no issues. Many societies fall for many different reasons but I think that the three most common reasons that societies fall are corrupt or controlling government, poverty, and invasion or war are the three main things that make a society fall.
Corrupt or controlling government and bad leaders are one reason that many societies fall. In the make believe Society of Divergent the government is overthrown by the faction Erudite with Dauntless as their army. Roth writes in the book “ Erudite and Dauntless forces are concentrated in the Abnegation sector of the city, so as long as we run away from the Abnegation sector, we are less likely to encounter trouble”(455). In this society the government is overthrown and corrupt because there were many people helping with this. Everyone is afraid of the Erudite and Dauntless soldiers because they are killing everyone.
Nazi Germany around the 1930’s Hitler the leader would block all bad things about him from newspapers, magazines, books, public meetings, rallies, art, music, and radio.“Anything opposing the leader was censored and removed from the media. All forms of communication: newspapers, magazines, books, public meetings, rallies, art, music, movies, and radio, was controlled by the leader and his supporters.” (1) This all was controlled by the leader and his supporters. Almost all ways of getting information was controlled by this leader. Although many societies have fell because of political reasons like corrupt government, many have also fell for other reasons like economical reasons.
Economically I think most societies fell because they had too much poverty. The society of the Divergent have many many people in poverty as we now call these people the homeless they called them the factionless. “We are creatures of loss; we have left everything behind I have no home, no path, and no certainty” (487). There are many people in this society without a place to live and without the resources they need.
In the ancient society of Rome lots of people lived in very dirty places that aren’t clean and not safe. they lived in neighborhoods that had diseases and...
