To Kill a Mockingbird Interactive Oral Reflection
How was your understanding of contextual considerations of the work developed through the interactive oral?
The comprehension of contextual considerations were developed throughout the interactive oral due to the contributions of the thoughts each member had on the topic. Throughout the discussion majority of the members had the same view on certain aspects of the text, whereas there was one member who did not share the same perspective as the others. Due to the fact that each member had different upbringings, each member was able to provide a different view on certain areas of the text during the discussion due to their different childhoods, which in turn deepened the group’s understanding on the context of the novel greatly.
Before participating in the discussion, there were many aspects of the novel where members had trouble understanding the text. During the discussion, the group spoke of the overwhelming amount of discrimination that occurs throughout the novel. For example, the main plot of the novel itself involved an African-American man being wrongly accused of a crime he did not commit and had no faith put in him as majority of the white people in the town, looked down on him and did not trust...
