Total Quality Model And Methodologies Essay

To be competitive in today's market, an organization must put total quality methods and models into operation. The application of total quality models will help an organization implement continuous improvement and quality initiatives. I will talk discuss a little on the total quality models available in my group management. I will state to management why I think Continuous Quality Improvement is the most excellent total quality model and why it should be integrated into the organization's current strategic planning process.Total Quality Methods and ModelsTotal quality methods and models is a business to select the one that will best fit the needs of an organization. These total quality models all concentrate on the improvement of all functional areas of the organization. In addition, the total quality models will help organization assess and evaluate its processes and recognize root cause and opportunities for improvement. Some of the potential models are:•Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI): A nonstop collaborative effort to identify and remove root causes of problems and constantly look for areas of improvement.•International Organization for Standards (ISO): These commercial standards are for quality management to use worldwide and help with document for the quality systems elements to be implemented.•Value chain analysis: Analyzes and describes an organization's activities or functions and evaluates its value. The organization must find a way to eliminate functions that do not add value.•Six Sigma: Uses a statistical approach to reduce process output variation and ultimately only tolerating +/-3 sigma from a control chart's centerline in an organization's processes.•Theory of Constraints (TOC): Focuses on finding the constraint limiting an organization and relaxing the control to improve the overall organization.•Just In Time (JIT): Minimizes product and supply inventories by ordering/producing as needed. Based on eliminating waste, JIT reduces cost of maintaining excess inventory (The Quality Assurance Project, 2008).Continuous Quality ImprovementDissimilar the other total quality models previously mentioned Continuous Quality Improvement does not suddenly end after the model is complete. Continuous Quality Improvement is a "management approach to improving and maintaining quality that emphasizes internally driven and relatively continuous assessments of potential causes of quality defect, followed by action aimer either at avoiding decrease in quality or else correcting it at an early stage" (The Quality Assurance Project, 2008). The conception of Continuous Quality Improvement focuses on the constant evaluation of an organization's processes, stressing is always room for improvement.I believe that Continuous Quality Improvement is the best total quality model for my organization.
