High school is an institution that provides secondary education. When most think of high school, they think of sitting in class all day, learning for the purpose of getting their diploma.
Well not me, I think of classes with hands on learning, being able to get a certification in a work field, and diverse opinions, which make for great class discussions that can overall leads to a diploma. I’m not visualizing a traditional education, because I’m receiving a technical education.
A technical education is different from the education most are used to, it’s the process of acquiring practical skills in the work area chosen. In technical school the main focus is a persons technical area however, they still focus on electives.
When acquiring a technical education throughout high school one may be able to earn any certification that the area provides. The ability to receive certifications is based on the amount of hands on learning, hard work, and studying one is willing to do for the certification.
Obtaining a certification is great for increasing a person's salary. So someone being able to get certified right out of high school really gets them ready for the work force.
There are not many technical institutions so, for majority of the schools have students apply for admission. Since there aren’t many technical schools there is a diverse amount of students accepted from multiple different districts.
This helps students academically because of all the different opinions and views students have on what is being taught. Therefore there is more classroom participation.
When in technical there is less funding and importance in the sports and extracurricular activities. There are less students signing up for sports in a technical school.
