In the above article it discusses the transformational leadership style of Howard Schultz and it’s a effectiveness, we also see a comparison between transactional leadership and transformational leadership. Howard Schultz’s leadership style forces him to be more of a motivation towards his employee’s and also makes him take up a more proactive role. Howard Schultz has a great belief in starbucks as believes that the only competitive advantage they require is through their workforce as a leader it crucial for you to stand behind your company in order to gain success. Howard Schultz also believes that employee’s work harder because they are paid well and have a stake in the organization’s outcome, employees are offered healthcare packages and stock options this makes them feel as though they are of importance to the company because their needs are being taken care of. Schultz’s natural family bond with starbucks creates a positive working environment and friendly atmosphere, Schultz prefers to refer to his employees as partners because he feels as though they are more than just employees. Schultz also provides education and other various programmes to his “partners “ to boost self-esteem.
