Veronica was outside waiting for Zoey to show up. She called her while she was packing her things, but she didn't explain the situation to her. That conversation would have to wait until they were both alone. However, she needed to talk about it as soon as possible, or she would start thinking about certain things that would make her start crying.
Well, that was too late. Standing in front of Jon's apartment while holding clothes and waiting for Zoey took her back to what happened three years ago, the beginning of the turmoil that she called life.
Veronica stood over Jon in the dimly lit room, thinking of ways to tell him the big news. She'd been trying to tell him for four week, but with the way he was acting when she brought up the topic of getting children, she wasn't sure if it was the right time. He quickly took away his hand and turned on his side, facing away from her. "Mmm… yeah, okay," he mumbled. She had been saying those three words for two years to him, and there was never an occasion where she got that response. Something was very wrong, and she had to figure it out.
There was no way that she could stay there with him, so she crawled out of bed and went out in the living room to watch TV and maybe take her mind off things. She needed to push it to the back of her mind as soon as possible, since she didn't want to be mad at him when he left.
Maybe there wasn't a reason for her to be mad, anyway. Jon was tired, and probably wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone. Then again, she's spoken to him later than that, sometime even having full conversations. She sighed and raked her hand through her hair before lying back in the couch. "Stop thinking about it," she thought to herself.
Veronica woke up after the sound of Jon's alarm clock sliced through the silence of the apartment. Studying her surroundings after noticing that she wasn't in the bedroom, she realized that she fell asleep on the couch. She sat up and stretched after seeing Jon come out of the room. "Did you sleep out here?" he asked, rubbing the...
