When you hear the name Tupac Amaru Shakur (2pac) you think of a rapper maybe a “Thug”. But Tupac just didn’t rap he was also a Poet. There is much more to his life than him rapping. Tupac positively affected society with his words in his songs and by singing. He was more than just a rapper.
Tupac was born on June 16, 1971 to Afeni Shakur in New York City. His real name is Lesane Parish Crooks. Tupac was mainly raised by his mom, because his dad really didn’t have much to do with him when he was born. Tupac spent his earlier years in Harlem in 1984. His family soon moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he became good friends with Jada Pinkett Smith. ( Tupac’s brief Biography)
Tupac went to Tamalpais High School in June 1988 when his family moved to Marin City, California. Tupac attended Baltimore’s School of the Arts where he learned to dance and how to do Ballet. This album also won the 1997 Soul Train R&B/Soul or Rap Album of the Year Award. Tupac also won the Award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist, at the 24th Annual American Music Awards. This Album is commonly referred to as one of the greatest hip hop/rap albums of all time. (answers.com)
Tupac wrote a song while he was in jail called “Dear Mama” it was written towards his Mother, and all the other Mothers who are trying to raise a family with problems of addiction poverty and social indicatives such as his. Tupac explained about his mom in this song he wrote it because he was thanking his nom for sacrificing herself so much for him. Tupac also rapped about his beliefs and what he wanted to say to the world at that certain time and also Tupac wanted to be different form all the other rappers around at that time he wanted to express his feelings. And also Tupac made a big change that changed society by brining attention to all the injustice around our country if it wasn’t do to do to the color of someone’s skin, race , religion or their economic status. Tupac didn’t like to judge people, or like being judged. Tupac than wrote a song about judgment it was called only “God Can Judge Me.” The song is about him saying that only god can judge him for his beliefs or his actions. Tupac wrote a lot of songs about race or religion, to express himself. A couple more reasons he wrote songs were to be different from other rappers, like Biggie. Tupac also wrote songs about his past or present experiences with life and a few of those songs are “Dear Mama” and “California Love.” Tupac lived by his mom’s advice she once told him “If you can’t find something to live for, you best find something to die for.” That Quote is really inspiring quote to live by.
He did this through his love of music by expressing himself with words and his desire to be different. He learned not to Judge a book by its cover through his life experiences and challenges he went through in live,
