Uf Os: Roswell Mystery Essay

2260 words - 10 pages

The biggest question we all ask ourselves at one point in time or another is, are we really alone in the universe? Many believe that all known encounters and evidence is either false, a hoax, or an attempt at fame and glory. True believers stick to the physical evidence and hard facts that follow these mysterious encounters. One specific event that occurred at Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 has baffled theorists and experts for generations and will continue to leave a controversial standpoint on what really may have occurred. This occurrence in particular has left a lot of unanswered questions about extraterrestrial existence due to the fact that most of the evidence collected from the incident ...view middle of the document...

Moreover, experiences differ from each other in a category system increasing according to intensity and longevity of the encounter. This classification system can be used in accordance to person, area, and the effect the phenomenon leaves on the environment.
CE-1, the ‘simple’ close encounter of the first kind, where the witness observes a UFO, where the phenomenon does not interact with its environment. CE-2, the close encounter of the second kind involves close observation of a UFO in which the object interacts with its environment, such as leaving damage to foliage. CE-3, the close encounter of the third kind, observes the UFO closely and includes the perception of ‘occupants’ or ‘entities’ in or around the phenomenon. CE-4, the close encounter of the fourth kind, occurs in which psychics or extremely high-strangeness, subjective events are claimed, such as physical abduction, time lapses (amnesia), the appearance in a witness of unusual mental or physical abilities after the close encounter (Devereux).
Very rarely do close encounters of the second kind or higher occur due to their nature of being easily falsifiable. One highly effective and virtually new technique being implemented today to extract vital information or insight from certain abductees is know as hypnosis. This procedure requires years of training and caution on account of many reports of trying to extract memories of the event described have gone terribly wrong. Cases of seizures, spasms, and potential self harm to the abductee also present major issues with hypnosis as well. Most abductees use this technique only for last resort purposes to find the truth of what may have occurred to them.
Undoubtedly, one of the worlds most acclaimed encounters involving extraterrestrial contact occurred on July 4, 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico. This incident is known all over the globe as the famous Roswell UFO incident of 1947. “On the night of July 4, 1947, radar indicated the object had gone down about thirty to forty miles northwest of Roswell” ("1947 Roswell UFO Incident"). After the initial crash of the UFO, debris from the object scattered across roads, fields, family farms, and even ranches. Many witnesses claim to have seen the object go down but only a handful even saw the crash or came in contact with the debris. “People who visited the crash site before the military arrived to remove the "balloon" debris later insisted they saw four alien bodies there. Other witnesses claim to have seen these aliens after they were taken to a nearby military base”(Netzley). This leaves a little margin of witnesses to question about the event and give a reliable answer on whether there actually was alien bodies retrieved from the crash. During the incident, the unidentified object crashed down on William Brazels ranch on the outskirts of Roswell sometime during the late hours of the night. Mister Brazel, busy examining livestock when the event occurred, gathered some of the debris that came off of...
