Face book is the world’s largest social networking site boasting over the five hundred

games and interact with each other all over the world, however and whenever they feel to do so. Amidst such flexibility can come grim consequences. With diverse individuals possessing solitary personalities, instances of sabotage, devilment and wrong doings frequently coincide with the collision of personalities. Unsecured privacy settings and cyber bullying accentuate concerns regarding face book crimes.
As stated in the Encarta World English Dictionary the terminology privacy is the freedom from the observation, intrusion or attention of others whilst unsecured is construed as not protected against electronic eavesdropping. Therefore unsecured privacy settings are the non protection against electronic eavesdropping and confinement to observation, intrusion or attention of others. Elements of unsecured privacy settings entail: Password recognition, photo accessibility and contact information. Primarily password recognition should be a priority for face book users. As stated on General Information About Face book Security (2010) amidst the recent concerns regarded breaches in respect to face book security policy, people still take a non seneschal approach and seem unperturbed by these problems. Allowing access through games and other applications places your account at high risks of being hacked. Therefore with password recognition not being a hundred percent when these requests are granted criminals gain any information they choose and execute their criminal activities. Murphy (2011) postulates that “It’s not just users’ trust in the overall platform of face book that increases their risk but their unfamiliarity with the privacy settings.” The importance of face book profile photos (2011) disclosed statistics on just how important face book photos are. Figures showed that the number of profile photos per user has tripled since 2006 while the average face book account has twenty six profile photos. While face book has customization for photos, photos can still be downloaded and copied unreservedly. With photos being easily accessible for sharing, criminals utilize celebrity photos and other photos and embody these persons to elude authorities and indulge in criminal activities like scams and sexual acts. As stated by Gill (2010) “The sheer volume of personal information that individuals include their profiles without activating all the appropriate privacy settings is a huge concern.” According to Nasaw (2010) federal bureau of investigation agents examine photos for guns, jewelry and find evidences of criminals participating in criminal acts.
