Scratch cards, Bingos and raffles – I always lose whenever I play them. I’m not a lucky person, I used to be but because of one Facebook post I didn’t share, seven years of bad luck was upon me. Last May, I played another game where I was destined to lose. I took a chance in the CRS and hoped that I would be granted a block section, but no, I wasn’t. And given that I didn’t have someone who has the exact same schedule as mine, there were a few times last semester that I was forced to eat lunch by myself. There were a few times where I walked alone. But what’s good about not being part of any block was I got to know more people, I got to make more friends.

According to a did-you-know fact I’ve read, ten Vatican cities could fit inside UP Diliman. But due to academic constraints and my inability to manage my time wisely, I haven’t seen much of our 493-hectare campus yet. Luckily, through this activity, I was able to remove some places off of my checklist.
The first place we visited was Narry’s food stall – namely, my favorite tambayan. It was where I first ate my lunch with friends, the day that marked the end of my lonely freshie days. And I think, by bringing them there, they saw how sentimental I could be sometimes and how I value that place because of the good memories I left there.
We then went to Yakal Residence Hall where Dave currently lives. It was where he made his first friends in UP and being away from Bicol, it’s a place he can call his home. And just by bringing us there shows so much about how he really misses his hometown.
After Yakal, we went straight to the College of Music, a place ate Daphne loves so much. She loves it because she shares it with people who enjoy the same thing as her, it is also the place where she doesn’t have to put on a persona, a place where she can be herself while doing what she loves. She even played the piano for us, showing us just how passionate she is about music.
Abbie then brought us to the Science Complex amphitheater, a place where she can sit back with her friends after her mind-boggling and bloody Chem 16 class. Going there tells me how wrong I was about her, she is not the typical bad girl; she really cares about her academics and the only time she can truly relax is kwowing that her class is over....
