When you hear the words “video games” automatically you think of every negative aspect that there is in the games. Although this is very true, there are also educational things in some games. Studies have shown that video games can benefit and harm some people in a variety of different ways. So the question is, what is the actual effect that video games have on our brain?

Researchers studies have shown that action video games improve adults fine discriminations among different shades of gray, which is important for driving at night (Gentile, 2009). It is possible that games are beneficial to doctors as well. “Video games are linked to the doctors that use a video camera to do a specific procedure, it is said they improve surgical skills and doctors get better practice playing these games then they do from the actual surgeries”(Gentile, 2009). Scientists have linked video games to reality. Some say that being able to scan a screen swiftly and pay attention to both the center and sides is good for certain jobs like, air- traffic controller. Also, a surgeon because they need to be able to gather information while maintaining awareness of the whole screen as well as objects not on the screen. All these examples are relevant situations to the world we live in today.
Listening to all these positive effects the games sound great, but in reality there are many negative aspects that affect kids and adults now a days. The major downfall of most video games is all the violence that comes along in most games. Many games unfortunately are full of killing and blood, meaning that people learn more on how to kill and be sneaky about it. “Meaning children and adults are both in control of the violence and experiences.”(Negative effects of of Video Games,2014).Researchers continue to argue whether or not violent games make people aggressive(Dana Foundation, 2014).
