Debate: Was Adolf Hitler a Strong or Weak Dictator?

On April 30th, 1945, the strike of two gun shots in an underground bunker of the chancellery building has shocked the entire Nazi Germany. By the time when the Russians reached to the place, there were two burnt dead bodies. After confirmation, the bodies were no one else, but the Father of The Nation and his wife: Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun. The death of Hitler has marked the fall of Nazi Germany. Hitler once said, that the Third Reich will last for 1000 years, but, the reality has shown the lifetime of the Third Reich was only around 12 years. Therefore this had led to a strong debate about what Hitler have done to ruin this nation and whether Adolf Hitler was a strong leader or not.
There were two schools of historians that debated on this topic: the Intentionalists and the Structuralists. The Intentionalists believed that ever since Hitler came to power in 1933, the way that Hitler generate the policies of Nazi Germany has made him a powerful integrating figure as the center of the government. Intentionalists claimed that “Hitler was a very powerful ruler who operated in line with a ‘master plan’”.
The Structralists, however, view Hitler as a weak dictator and the third Reich wasn’t a powerful nation at all. In fact, later on Hitler’s actions were so random that people won’t be able to predict what he will do. In conclusion, people praise Hitler only because they wanted to please him because he was so influential that people didn’t tend to question either his power authority or abilities to rule the nation.
There are evidence that shows Hitler was a strong leader of the state. First of all, it is shown that Hitler has have absolute control of the entire nation: from the arm force and the economy to the control of ideology and education. All of these factors have pointed out that Nazi Germany was a totalitarian state and was controlled by Hitler alone. Second, the property of Nazi
Germany was a single party state. The ideology of the Nazi Party were constructed by Hitler’s own beliefs, and the 25 Point Program that Hitler had written, has become the “bible” and “guide” of the Nazi Party. This has resulted in Hitler to be the God of the nation. People, especially in the Party, had no doubt in his leadership and therefore made Hitler a strong leader.
