This essay critically discusses the continuous impact of the consequences of 9/11 on modern world politics.11 September attacks were towards the ‘Giant country’ which leads in the political arena and have an ability of changing course of events. As a result, responds to these attacks by main player of world politics were resulted in significant changes in their foreign affairs which affected entire the world policy. International relations of USA with Middle East after 9/11 disrupted political life in this region, EU countries have been more conservative and prudent towards the Muslim countries, Islamaphobia emerged. USA drew a human violator image and this weakened its relations with some countries .This event brought about the reshaping of new world order. The dominant political discourse became terrorism, security and war.
After Cold War USA was the only super power in the world and she had a wish of for proving its leadership and making new world order. So, it misused 9/11 for implementing its plans. Political, economic and military power of USA was enough for invading Afghanistan or any Middle East country which were rich oil countries, however invading without any reason, overriding international laws would be unacceptable and damage its relations with other countries. Showing 9/11 as a reason USA could act in this region how it wants and implement its plans. As a result with the launching of ‘War on Terror’ new stage has been begun in the world politics.
With the claiming of who were in the behind of this attacks-and Al Qaeda would be punished, the new crusade by USA had begun. Afghanistan and Iraq was invaded. In one hand created a commotion in the Middle East that it continues until today. On the other hand thanks to the pressure exerted by the new world order imposed by the hegemonic power of the united states following the 9/11 attacks and their ensuing impacts on the region, the Arab people finally stepped up their aspirations of freedom and democracy by taking matters into their own hands.
The other consequence of 9/11 was security issues. The terrorist attacks of September 11,2001 provided a more immediate impetus to unilateral action by signifying that the US ‘homeland’ s not as geographically distant and sheltered from the rest of the world as many Americans had come to think. The world they looked out upon now seemed a much less secure and much more uncertain place. Airport security strengthened. This changed world provided the rationale for new measures of exclusion and control on refugees, asylum seekers and, in some cases, foreign residents generally. At times of high anxiety, political communities tend to become less tolerant, more insular places.
