The lifestyle choices we make are crucial for our health. We do not realize that we have become lazier over the generations. Every year, the age range of death has increased due to how we carry ourselves everyday. Not only is our physical health important but also our mental, emotional, and spiritual health. There are many changes I believe that can help us enjoy a healthier way of living. They will decrease our chances for disease and increase our quality of life.
First of all, you really do change from the inside out so changes begin within your spiritual life. Embrace what God has created for you to enjoy. Take a walk in nature by yourself. It will open up a great opportunity to communicate with your Creator. When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I like to take a step outside to get away from all the noise. God gave us his creations to enjoy and to feel at home when we spend time in them.
Try doing or giving something nice for someone other than yourself. “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” –Acts 20:35. You can definitely make someone’s day. We are often so caught up within our own problems that we forget others are going through some difficult times also. “This person shows me Christ and now I want to change.” Doing or giving something nice to someone shines the light God has put within you.
Read the Bible. God left us an over-flowing fountain of good advice in His book. Our soul needs to be fed with His Word on a daily basis. We can make time aside, even for a few minutes, to open our Bibles and read. It’s filled with so many stories on how to deal with what we may be going through. God has so much to say to us and our souls will never be fed with it until we read it.
Is prayer good for your health? Keeping in contact with God helps us release everything we keep inside. Having a close connection with the Lord increases our faith in Him. He gives us a hope that no one else can give to us. God will work through you only if you allow Him to. “Prayer is more than meditation. In meditation, the source of strength is one’s self. When one prays, he goes to a source of strength greater than his own – Madame de S.” Prayer is an important factor in our relation ship with God and can reduce our mental and emotional stress.
Second, a good emotional health can lead to success, which leads to happiness. Emotions tend to influence the decisions we make everyday. Our emotional stress is vital for our health. As teenagers, we allow our emotions to get the best of us. This often causes stress and a burden on our shoulders. In connection with our spiritual life, giving our burdens over to God helps eliminate the emotional stress we have on ourselves.
Another way of improving our emotional health is to eliminate something or someone who is holding us back. There are many people with good intentions but some of the others are not so good....
